1-year contract includes $1.4 million guaranteed, could total $3 million
There were a few constants when it came to the career of former North Texas running back Lance Dunbar.
Dunbar made an impact wherever he went. And he never went very far.
Dunbar played for Haltom and passed on offers from schools higher up the college football food chain when he decided to stay home and play for North Texas. From there, he landed with the Cowboys and played in Dallas for five more years.
Now, Dunbar finally is heading elsewhere after signing a contract with the Los Angeles Rams that could pay him up to $3 million for one year, with $1.4 million guaranteed.
Dunbar has 68 catches for 646 yards to go along with 422 rushing yards in his career. He has carved out a role as a third-down back in the NFL, despite not being a particularly at 5-8 and 195 pounds.
Dunbar's accomplishments more notable considering his injury history. He was lost for the season when he tore his ACL and MCL in a game against the New Orleans Saints in 2015. He also missed part of the 2008 season when he was at UNT with a knee injury.
Dunbar will get another shot to stay healthy and add another chapter to what has been a productive career with the Rams.
It will just be odd to see Dunbar playing somewhere else then in his own back yard after all these years.
